Opening up the housing market again

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick recently said: “Our clear plan will enable people to move home safely, covering each aspect of the sales and letting process, from viewings to removals.” Although the government is hoping that the housing market can get back to some kind of normality there is still a need to ensure social distancing, so house valuations may initially be conducted virtually for safety reasons.

Katherine Mumford, Mortgage Advisor in Tottenham, North London; ‘This is a positive first step to re-opening the housing market. Many people are ready to move but had to delay their exchange and completion because of the pandemic, so hopefully they will now have the confidence to set a date and move home. While everyone has been in lockdown many property websites have seen an increase in traffic so we believe there could be pent up demand for people wanting to move home. If you want to start looking for a new home, please contact a Thomas Oliver mortgage broker before you start looking at property. We can review your finances, your incomings and outgoings and recommend how much you can borrow from a mortgage lender. By doing this before you start house hunting you will be in a better position to know what type of property you can afford to purchase so you won’t waste time looking at unsuitable property. By reviewing your finances, we can also provide you with a better understanding of the type of products and rates that are available. Following the reduction in base rates in March 2020 the illustrated rates that are currently being offered by mortgage lenders are now generally much lower than the illustrated rates we provided in November 2019 or the previous year. To give you an idea about what you can afford please review our recent illustrated mortgage rates – Illustrated buy to let and remortgage rates at lowest for years. However, please remember that these rates are examples and for personalised mortgage advice we recommend you call our mortgage broking team on 01707 872000. We offer all clients a free initial no obligations mortgage consultation.’

Katherine Mumford, Mortgage Advisor in Tottenham, North London continued: ‘If you are a key worker requiring mortgage advice Vishal and I are offering a 50% reduction in our normal fees before 1st June 2020 as a thank you for all the work you have done for our country during the last few weeks. If you are a key worker, we understand you will have limited time off work but to save time please contact us by phone. We can chat to you or use video conferencing to get all the financial information we need so we can work on your behalf. If you are due to remortgage this year call us four months before your renewal date as it gives us enough time to provide mortgage advice. We can check the mortgage market for appropriate mortgage products. Once we find the right mortgage product, we can organise all the paperwork for you, so you are organised well in advance and don’t have to rush to find a new mortgage when your remortgage comes up for renewal.’
